Absentee primary voting begins April 8

COLUMBIA CITY — Voters will have the opportunity to cast their ballots early for the upcoming primary elections.

Absentee ballots may be cast beginning Tuesday, April 8, at the Voter Registration Office at the Whitley County Courthouse, 101 W. Van Buren St., Room 18, Columbia City.

A photo identification is required. A person does not need a reason to vote early.

Office hours for early voting are weekdays, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., beginning Tuesday.

Two Saturdays will also have voting hours: April 26 and May 3. The hours for those dates are 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The last day for a person to register to vote for the primary is Monday, April 7. Early voting ends May 5 at noon. The primary election day is May 6.

Primary elections determine the nominee for each party before the general election. Individuals that wish to vote in the primary must register with a political party.
