SEARCH FOR CONSISTENCY: The downfall of Lady Eagles

COLUMBIA CITY — Columbia City’s Lady Eagle volleyball squad took the floor of the Donald S. Weeks Gymnasium with the fourth different starting line-up in as many games in a search for consistent play. That search went unfulfilled, as the visiting Lady Vikings took advantage of Columbia City errors to put together runs and take a four-game 25-12, 25-21, 23-25 and 25-16 win Thursday night.

GIRLS GOLF FALLS TO LEO: Lady Eagles part of 4-way conference tie

EO-CEDARVILLE — Columbia City’s girls golf team suffered a difficult loss to Leo Thursday at Cedar Creek Golf Course. Though the Lady Eagles posted a strong score at 185, the undefeated Leo squad came away with the win with a score of 178. The Lady Lions, 14-0, are state-ranked.

BOYS TENNIS: ’Busco’s Lillmars takes fourth consecutive win

CHURUBUSCO — Churubusco’s boys tennis team played West Noble Tuesday at home, falling 4-1. Scoring for the Eagles was veteran player and senior, Luke Lillmars with a win in the No. 1 singles. Lillmars’ success over West Noble marks his fourth consecutive win.

FOUR-COUNTY MEET: Churubusco runners take 2nd and 3rd at Prairie Heights

LAGRANGE — Churubusco’s cross country team competed in a four-county meet at Prairie Heights High School in LaGrange Tuesday. The girls team was led by Julia Folland with a 2nd-place finish. Pacing the boys were Jacob Eyer in third and Blake Gross in fourth.

EAGLES LOOK TO REBOUND: Wildcats look to stay at top of conference

WHITLEY COUNTY — Whitley County’s football teams came out 2-1 in games stifled by thunderstorms last week. Columbia City’s football game was delayed in the third quarter, with the Eagles holding a 15-7 advantage over Northeast Hoosier Conference foe Bellmont. Columbia City gave up its lead and the win to fall 25-15. This week, the Eagles host NHC powerhouse Homestead, which is off to a 2-1 start to the season as well.

3-1 WIN: Col. City nabs victory over Manchester

COLUMBIA CITY — The Columbia City Lady Eagle volleyball team had to come back from a one-game deficit and an eight-point hole in game four to claim a 3-1 match victory over the visiting Manchester Lady Squires. The Eagles dropped game one 25-23, but came back to take 25-14 and 25-16 wins in games two and three, before coming from behind to take game four after six hard-fought extra points at 29-27.

'BIG' ROAD VICTORY: Lady Eagles win NHC match

OSSIAN — Columbia City’s girls golf team picked up a win in its final Northeast Hoosier Conference dual Tuesday evening at Timber Ridge Golf Course against Norwell, 188-191.

COLUMBIA CITY — For the second time in a week, the Columbia City boys soccer team gave up multiple goals to a single opposition player.
On Saturday, the Eagles gave up five goals to a single Huntington North player. Tuesday night, the Eagles squared off against Northeast Hoosier Conference foe DeKalb. Baron senior Brennan Cochran went one better, tallying six scores to send Columbia City to a 6-0 defeat.

2,000 RUNNERS: ’Busco, Col. City compete at Marion Inv.

MARION — Columbia City’s and Churubusco’s boys and girls cross country traveled to Indiana Weslyean in Marion Saturday to compete in an invitational with approximately 2,000 other runners. Churubusco’s runners had personal records, with Jacob Eyer and Blake Gross leading the boys’ squad with 11th and 17th finishes, respectively.
