FORT WAYNE — When Columbia City Lady Eagle Volleyball Coach Trish Hinen talks about the roller coaster aspects of her team’s play, she is not talking a kiddie coaster, but a full-fledged, scream at the top of your lungs, drop-off-a-cliff fall.

The Lady Eagles, playing some of their best defensive volleyball against Northeast Hoosier Conference foe Homestead, had leads in every game, but runs by the host Lady Spartans sent the Lady Eagles home on the short end of a 3-0 match.

AKRON — Columbia City’s boys and girls cross country teams posted strong placings in the Tippecanoe Valley Invitational Saturday morning in Akron.

The Lady Eagles placed second out of 12 teams, just four points behind the winning team, Northfield.

NEW HAVEN — Columbia City’s girls golf team finished out its final Northeast Hoosier Conference competition with a strong, second-place finish at Whispering Creek Golf Course in New Haven Saturday.

With a four-way tie for first place for the conference title coming into the match, the Lady Eagles finished behind Carroll and Homestead to place third in the match and second overall.
