Columbia CItyâ€™s wrestling team raised $730 for Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana. Head coach Blane Culp presented the check to Linda Bewley of Cancer Services after Wednesday nightâ€™s match against Garrett.
COLUMBIA CITY â€” With high school wrestlingâ€™s regular season meets drawing to a close this week, all teams, including the three Whitley County squads (Columbia City, Churubusco and Whitko) are all preparing for their â€śsecond seasonâ€ť of conference tournaments and the month-long Indiana High School Athletic Association Individual State Tournament series.
All three Whitley County teams will be traveling this Saturday for their conference tournaments. Each enters the tournament with differing, yet similar, goals.
KENDALLVILLE â€” Indian Springs Middle Schoolâ€™s 8th-grade Lady Eagles (12-2) traveled to East Noble Monday night and won a hard-fought battle by the score of 50-45.
Three players scored in double figures for the Lady Eagles, with Holly Martinez leading the charge with 15 points. Miranda McConnell had 11 points and Darian Farber added 10, with six points coming in the final quarter. Chelsea Pettigrew contributed eight points inside and Morgan Bales had four â€” including two key free throws in the fourth quarter.
