COLUMBIA CITY â€” A 20-year-old Churubusco man, Dallas Jones, was sentenced to 10 years, eight to served and two years suspended, in Whitley County Circuit Court Monday on a charge relating to methamphetamine.
Jones pleaded guilty Aug. 20 to manufacturing methamphetamine, a Class B felony, and he is also expected to pay a $200 Drug and Alcohol Countermeasure fee.
According to the Whitley County Drug Task Force Case Report, Officer Bill Brice reported July 17 receiving information concerning methamphetamine related trash in or around Jonesâ€™ residence at 156 Staunton Ave. in Churubusco.
John W. Boggess, 69, of Columbia City, passed away at 6:35 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012, at Norwood Nursing Home, Huntington.
Born on Aug. 3, 1943, in Huntington County, he was the son of John H. and Bertha I. (Kilgus) Boggess.
He was born in Huntington County, reared in the Blue Lake area of Churubusco and then moved to Columbia City.
He attended Huntington High School. He served in the U.S. Marines from 1961 to 1965. He worked for Norfolk and Southern Railroad for several years.
On Jan. 5, 2010, he married Shelley S. (Maloney) Zawacki-Boggess in Columbia City.
Anthony D. Treece, 82, of Columbia City passed away at 9:40 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012, at Millerâ€™s Merry Manor Nursing Home, Columbia City.
He was born on April 9, 1930, in Huntington, the son of Claude Raymond and Alice (Reed) Treece.
He spent his childhood in Whitley County and graduated from Columbia City High School with the class of 1954.
He first worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad before joining the U.S. Marine Corps. where he trained at Camp LeJune and Paris Island.
Millard Kincaid, 91, of Fort Wayne, passed away at 7:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 17, 2012, at University Park Nursing Home, Fort Wayne.
Born on April 26, 1921, in Jackson, Ky., he was the son of Edgar B. and Effie (Fletcher) Kincaid.
He grew up in Kentucky and moved to Indiana in 1950, living in Churubusco until 1964. Then in 1964 he moved to Columbia City until 1985 when he moved to his present home in Fort Wayne.
He attended Beattyville, Lee County, Kentucky School. In June of 1938, Millard married Mandy Jane Stamper. She preceded him in death in 1982.
NORTH MANCHESTER â€” Irene E. Knarr, 91, of North Manchester, died at 1:40 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012 at Peabody Home.
She was born Oct. 31, 1920, in Defiance County, Ohio a daughter of J. Edward and Eva (Lehman) Kintner.
She graduated from Sherwood High School and from Manchester College with a bachelorâ€™s degree in elementary education. She received her masterâ€™s degree in education from Ball State University.
James Robert â€śTarzâ€ť Kissinger, 74, of Columbia City, known by his neighbors as the â€śphony farmer,â€ť died at his residence at 2:40 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012.
He was born in Warsaw on May 25, 1938, the son of the late Claude Earl and Lois Eleanor (Hurd) Kissinger.
He spent his childhood in the Tri-Lakes area and lived his entire lifetime in Columbia City, where he attended Columbia City High School. On May 10, 1958, he married Julie J. Quinn at St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church, Columbia City.
Jeanette Adele Horrell, 86, of Howe, formerly of Rome City and Kendallville, passed away at 11:40 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012, at Life Care Center of LaGrange.
Born on July 7, 1926, in Columbia City, she was the daughter of Lawrence E. and Pearl Beatrice (Blew) Rubrake.
Jeanette grew up in Whitley County, attending the McCellan and Collins schools, graduating from Larwill High School with the Class of 1942.
SOUTH WHITLEY â€” Hildreth J. Wolfe, 86, of South Whitley, died at 8:06 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne where she was admitted on Friday.
She was born July 2, 1926, in Cleveland Township, a daughter of Edgar A. and Nellie (Ward) Sherbahn. She attended South Whitley schools graduating from South Whitley High School in 1944.
She completed her schooling at Huntington Beauty College.
On July 20, 1945, she was united in marriage to Galen Wolfe, Jr.
Allison Dawn Rainey 38 From Columbia City died Friday Sept. 7, 2012.
Survivors include a daughter, Lauren Rainey and son, Justin Bechler both of Columba City; Allisonâ€™s mother, Barbara Rainey, New Haven; sister, Amy Fowler of Columbia City; brother, Mark Rainey of Fort Wayne and Allisonâ€™s fiance, Jim Bechler of Columbia City.
Preferred Memorials in lieu of flowers should go to the educational fund for Lauren and Justin at the Three Rivers Federal Credit Union.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
