Max Foor, 91

December 10, 2012

Max R. Foor, 91, of Arcola, passed away at 3:43 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at Ashton Creek Health and Rehabilitation Center, Fort Wayne.
Born on July 11, 1921, in Gladwin, Mich. he was the son of Ericus E. and Edna Grace (Robinson) Foor.
Max was raised in Etna Township, Whitley County where he attended school and then graduated from Wolf Lake High School with the Class of 1940.
On June 28, 1942, he married Imogene “Jean” E. Heintzelman at Ormas Baptist Church.

Donald Martin, 78

Donald W. “Duke” Martin, 78, of Big Lake, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving wife and family Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.
Born on May 10, 1934 in Fort Wayne, he was the son of Donald Martin and Mildred (Hartman) Martin-Baker.
On June 4, 1955, he married Alice (Harrison) Martin at North Highlands Church of Christ, Fort Wayne.
He worked as a machinist for 40 years with Kunkle Valve in Fort Wayne, retiring in 1994.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and sports, especially his Chicago Cubs, Colts and Indiana basketball.

MOM ON A MISSION: Park renovation sparks revitalization

SOUTH WHITLEY — Katey Till, of South Whitley, has been on task to see the South Whitley Town Park is a “lasting treasure for children now and in the future.”

Just a typical mom, Till has changed the face of the town she lives in by tackling a project costing in excess of $100,000.
“I guess I was feeling ambitious,”said Till.

In 2007, Till and a fellow South Whitley mother, Colleen French, looked at the existing playground area located behind the town hall and decided new playground equipment was needed both for their children as well as others.

SHOOTER ARRAIGNED: Kimbler pleads not guilty

LARWILL — Dakota Kimbler, 17, is charged as an adult with a preliminary count of attempted murder, a Class A felony. He is booked in the Whitley County Jail with bail set at $250,000 bail. Authorities say Kimbler escaped from Pierceton Woods Juvenile Detention Center Saturday night.

Today Kimbler appeared in Circuit Court. Kimbler entered a preliminary plea of not guilty and Judge James Heuer scheduled a pre-trial conference for Jan. 7. Attorney Brad Baber was designated as Kimbler’s public defender.
