Richard E. â€śDickâ€ť Kranifeld, 89, of South Whitley, died Saturday morning, Jan. 17, 2015 at the home of Keith and Judy Kelsey, his caregivers.
He was born July 2, 1925 in Fort Wayne, a son of Elmer Leroy and Edna (Jones) Kranifeld. His formative years were spent in South Whitley and Fort Wayne until 1935 when his family moved to New Haven. He attended high school at New Haven for two years and graduated in 1943 from South Side High School when his family moved back to Fort Wayne. He completed his education at International Business College.

Jarrod Anthony Lewis, 22, of Pierceton, passed away at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015 at his home. Born May 18, 1992, in Warsaw, he was the son of Jack Kenneth and Crystal Mourning (Lewis) Funnell.
He graduated from Whitko High School with the Class of 2010. Jarrod loved football, was the Captain of Whitko Football Team, was a wrestler for Whitko and was a member of FCCLA.

Marilyn A. Helgesen, 77, a resident of Churubusco, passed away at 9:35 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015, at Wesley Healthcare in Auburn following a four year battle with Bulbar ALS.
Mrs. Helgesen was born Dec. 28, 1937 in Smith Township, a daughter of Luey J. and Florence (Ott) Wade. She was a lifelong resident of Churubusco and graduated from Churubusco High School in 1955.

Robert E. Hursey, 80, of Columbia City, passed away at 5:09 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born April 27, 1934 in Whitley County, he was the son of Maurice Dale and Edna Marie (Davis) Hursey.

Christina Diane Jeffers, 41, of Columbia City, passed away at 11:12 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2014 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. She was born July 8, 1973 in Fort Wayne the daughter of Jerry â€śGrubâ€ť and Terrilyn (Bills) Zumbrun.
Christina spent her lifetime in Columbia City growing up on a family farm where she was very active in raising livestock and was a member of Whitley County 4-H Clubs, showing cattle, sheep and pigs.

Rosemary Wheeler, 86, of rural Columbia City, died at 8:25 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 11, 2015 at Adams Memorial Hospital in Decatur.
She was born Sept. 10, 1928, in Fort Wayne, a daughter of Merritt Wilbert and Ruth (Growcock) Crowell. Her formative years were spent in Jefferson Township. She graduated in 1946 from Jefferson Center High School.

Rosemary Morehead, 88, of Topeka, Kan. passed away Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015, at Stormont-Vail Hospital.
Rosemary was born June 17, 1926, in Columbia City, the daughter of Charles and Freeda (Smith) Adang. She loved Columbia City and might have remained there forever had a friend not introduced her to Glenn C. Morehead, a young soldier from Topeka, Kan., who was in town for an Army reunion.

Roberta Mae Pritchard, 79, of Columbia City, passed away at 10:21 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 11, 2015 at her home. Born July 8, 1935 in Noble County, she was the daughter of Albert and Margaret M. (Stewart) Birch.
Roberta lived in Noble County until she married Jack E. Pritchard Sept. 15, 1953. She lived in Whitley County from then on. She graduated from Wolf Lake High School with the Class of 1953. Roberta was a faithful and devoted member at Blue River Church of the Brethren. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed collecting bells and books.

Theodore â€śTedâ€ť J. Grable, 87, of Columbia City, went to be with his Lord at 2:10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, 2015 at Parkview Whitley Hospital.
Born Oct. 7, 1927 in Churubusco, he was the son of Clarence T. and Bertha O. (Myers) Grable. Ted graduated from Columbia City High School with the Class of 1945.
On May 18, 1946 he married Betty Lou Souder. He served 20 years with the U.S. Navy and over 17 years at the Naval Medical Data Service Center in Bethesda, Md. before retiring.

Duane M. Barth, 68, a resident of rural Columbia City, passed away at 1:03 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2015 at Parkview Whitley Hospital in Columbia City. He had been in declining health for the past two years.
He was born July 5, 1946 in Fort Wayne, a son of Robert and Margaret (Downend) Barth. He spent his formative years at Blue Lake near Churubusco, and graduated from Churubusco High School in 1964.
