Alice H. McQueen, 88

Alice H. McQueen, 88, of South Whitley, passed away at 5:06 p.m. Thursday, January 15, 2015 at her residence. Born on September 10, 1926 in Cambria, Wis., she was the daughter of William Hayden and Margaret (Jones) Hughes.
Alice attended Fall River High School in Fall River, Wis. and graduated with the Class of 1943. She married James E. McQueen, Sr. on March 10, 1945 in Brooklyn, N.Y.
She was a homemaker for most of her life, but did work for a short time at the Blue Bell Jean Factory as an administrative assistant.
Cody A. Brommer, 21

Cody Austin Brommer, 21, of Columbia City, Ind. passed away at 7:37 p.m. on Friday, January 16, 2015 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. He was born several weeks early, but weighed over eight pounds on August 13, 1993 at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, the son of Randall Joseph and Julie LuAnn (Pelfrey) Brommer.

Richard E. Gage, 87, of Kendallville, died on Monday, Jan. 19, 2015 at his home. Mr. Gage was born in Cosperville, Sept. 27, 1927 to the late Frank and Alice (Caldwell) Gage.
He graduated from Albion High School in 1945 and entered the United States Navy during World War II.
He married Joanna Helen Randol May 24, 1952 and she preceded him in death in January of 1995.
In 1985, Richard founded Metalcraft in Wawaka and was part owner. He enjoyed working, spending time with his family, traveling, and playing golf.

Betty L. Mogensen, 83, formerly of Columbia City and Pierceton, died Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015 in Salt Springs, Fla.
She was born Oct. 4, 1931 in Lagrange, a daughter of Harold and Goldie Mae (Anspaugh) Waldeck. As a young girl, her family moved to a farm in Thorncreek Township, later into Columbia City and then Richland Township. She graduated from Larwill High School.

Richard E. â€śDickâ€ť Kranifeld, 89, of South Whitley, died Saturday morning, Jan. 17, 2015 at the home of Keith and Judy Kelsey, his caregivers.
He was born July 2, 1925 in Fort Wayne, a son of Elmer Leroy and Edna (Jones) Kranifeld. His formative years were spent in South Whitley and Fort Wayne until 1935 when his family moved to New Haven. He attended high school at New Haven for two years and graduated in 1943 from South Side High School when his family moved back to Fort Wayne. He completed his education at International Business College.

Jarrod Anthony Lewis, 22, of Pierceton, passed away at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015 at his home. Born May 18, 1992, in Warsaw, he was the son of Jack Kenneth and Crystal Mourning (Lewis) Funnell.
He graduated from Whitko High School with the Class of 2010. Jarrod loved football, was the Captain of Whitko Football Team, was a wrestler for Whitko and was a member of FCCLA.

Marilyn A. Helgesen, 77, a resident of Churubusco, passed away at 9:35 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015, at Wesley Healthcare in Auburn following a four year battle with Bulbar ALS.
Mrs. Helgesen was born Dec. 28, 1937 in Smith Township, a daughter of Luey J. and Florence (Ott) Wade. She was a lifelong resident of Churubusco and graduated from Churubusco High School in 1955.

Robert E. Hursey, 80, of Columbia City, passed away at 5:09 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born April 27, 1934 in Whitley County, he was the son of Maurice Dale and Edna Marie (Davis) Hursey.

Christina Diane Jeffers, 41, of Columbia City, passed away at 11:12 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2014 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. She was born July 8, 1973 in Fort Wayne the daughter of Jerry â€śGrubâ€ť and Terrilyn (Bills) Zumbrun.
Christina spent her lifetime in Columbia City growing up on a family farm where she was very active in raising livestock and was a member of Whitley County 4-H Clubs, showing cattle, sheep and pigs.
