COLUMBIA CITY â€” Lavon E. Tucker, 91, of Columbia City, passed away at 2 p.m. Friday, March 16, 2012, at her home.
Born June 21, 1920, in Huntington County, she was the daughter of Henry O. and Bertha (Reinkensmeir) Piepenbrink.
Raised in Huntington County, she attended Huntington High School.
On Aug. 1, 1947, she married Jerry J. Tucker in Waynedale.
She and her husband moved to Allen County where they lived until 1999 when they moved to Whitley County.
For the past several years, she resided at the Lutheran Home, Fort Wayne.
Rev. Father Daniel Robert Leeuw, 83, passed away Saturday, March 17, 2012.
Born in Fort Wayne, he was the son of Edward A. and Madonna C. (Manier) Leeuw.
He was ordained to the priesthood at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Fort Wayne by Bishop Leo A. Pursley on May 25, 1957.
His education included Precious Blood Grade School, Fort Wayne, Central Catholic High School, St. Josephâ€™s College Rensselaer, Indiana University, the University of Dayton (bachelorâ€™s degree), University of Notre Dame (masterâ€™s degree) and St. Meinrad School of Theology.
COLUMBIA CITY â€” COLUMBIA CITY: Garland A. â€śRedâ€ť Watters, 83, a resident of Etna-Troy Township, died at 4:27 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at his home, on the same farm where he was born .
He was born Dec. 26, 1928, in Troy Township, a son of Murland R. â€śJimmyâ€ť and Robia E. (Mullendore) Watters.
He attended Troy Center School and graduated from Larwill High School in 1946.
After completing his education, he started farming and on Oct. 17, 1951, entered the U.S. Army and served in the military police until Oct. 18, 1953.
Breanna Lynne Walker, 20, a resident of Fort Wayne, passed away at 11:54 p.m. on Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne from injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident earlier in the evening in Fort Wayne.
Breanna was born Jan. 27, 1992, in Columbus, Ohio, a daughter of Jeffrey A. and Lynne (Pitcock) Walker.
She spent her formative years in Fort Wayne, and graduated from Northrop High School in 2010.
She was a second-year student at the University of Saint Francis, and also worked part time as a waitress.
COLUMBIA CITY â€” Rosemary L. Lowen, 78, of Columbia City, passed away at 11 p.m. Monday at Millerâ€™s Merry Manor Nursing Home in Columbia City.
She was born May 5, 1933, in Muncie, the daughter of Kenneth W. and Edrie M. (Russell) Carney.
She attended South Side High School in Fort Wayne. She married Howard E. Lowen, Sr. in Fort Wayne on Oct. 4, 1952.
She and her family moved from Fort Wayne to Columbia City in 1967. She was a homemaker and member of the United Methodist Church.
Edward Eugene Weber, 99, of Columbia City, passed away at 12:15 p.m. Friday, March 9, 2012, at his sonâ€™s home in Kosciusko County.
Born Sept. 20, 1912, in Larwill, he was the son of Jacob Weber and Ada Solt-Weber-Hamilton.
Following the death of his mother, Edward was reared in Larwill by his aunt and uncle, Albert and Hulda Solt Holycross and has lived most of his adult life in Columbia City.
He attended Larwill, Fort Wayne, and Columbia City schools.
On Dec. 17, 1941, he married Inez Elizabeth Smith at Columbia City United Methodist Church.
James Timothy Adams, 62, passed away on Friday, March 9, 2012, at his home in Texas.
He was born on Sept. 4, 1949, a son of Porter Jackson and June (Miller) Adams and graduated from Larwill High School in 1967.
Jim served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Vietnam.
He worked at Dana Corporation until his retirement.
CHURUBUSCO â€” Fred Delmar Swindell, 80, passed away Friday, March 9, 2012, at St. Joseph Hospital in Fort Wayne after a brief illness.
He lived in Churubusco for the last 35 years.
Born in LaPorte Dec 19, 1931, to the late Daniel W. Swindell and Dorothy E. (Dilts) Swindell, he lived most of his early life in Idaville where he graduated from high school.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War serving most of his time on the U.S.S. Essex.
He worked in several occupations including agriculture, high steel structures, restaurant management, law enforcement and sheet metal.
Susan Amy Adams, 54, of Columbia City, passed away at 11:29 a.m. Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Born Nov. 29, 1957, in Columbia City, she was the daughter of H. Wesley and Madonna Rose (Martz) Adams.
She lived in Allen and Whitley counties her entire lifetime and had a family cottage at Tri Lakes since 1957.
She graduated from Elmhurst High School with the class of 1976 and received an associateâ€™s degree in accounting from Fort Wayne International Business College.
She worked at the world headquarters of Do It Best Hardware in New Haven, as an accountant.
COLUMBIA CITY â€” Marian M. Hanish, 88, of rural Columbia City, died at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, March 10, 2012, at Millerâ€™s Merry Manor.
She was born Sept. 23, 1923, in Allen County, a daughter of William and Lucy (Summers) Fulk.
Surviving relatives include a daughter, Roxanne L. Schulze of Cold Spring, Texas; a son, Brian R. (Lisa) Bowers of Columbia City; two grandchildren, Amanda Schmidt and Sylas Bowers; and two great-granddaughters, Faith and Ella Schmidt; and a sister-in-law, Marilyn Fulk of Laotto.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Cliff Fulk, Hugh Fulk and Robert Fulk.
