Dec. 7, 1924 â€” Aug. 18, 2014
Donald L. Hagenbuch, 89, of Warren, passed away at 11:12 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18, 2014, at Parkview Huntington Hospital in Huntington. He was born Dec. 7, 1924, in Wabash County.
Don graduated from Bippus High School. He served in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Cincinnati from 1943, through 1946, spending 27 months on the same ship.
Don was a lifetime member of the Huntington V.F.W. Post number seven and former member of the American Legion. Don was a 50-year member of the Huntington Masonic Lodge.

Virgil E. â€śSonnyâ€ť Hicks Jr., 79, of rural South Whitley, died at 7:52 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne where he was admitted the previous Thursday.
He was born March 3, 1935, in Huntington, a son of Virgil K. and Laura Elizabeth (Shellenbarger) Hicks.
His formative years were spent on a farm in Washington Township. He graduated from Washington Center High School.

Charles D. Holbrook, 84, of Jonesboro and formerly of Columbia City, passed away Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014, at the Wesley Health Care Center in Marion.
Born Jan. 19, 1930, in Warsaw to the late Angus Fred (Bogie) Holbrook and Fern (Grubbs) Holbrook, he graduated in 1949, from Columbia City High School.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his younger brother, Larry Holbrook and his previous wife, Shirley Ann (Mote) Holbrook Goff.

Sandra S. Farris, 77, of Granger, passed away at 8:08 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2014.
Born on July 18, 1937, in Cromwell, she was the daughter of Virgil R. and Anna M. (Priest) Kistler.
Survivors include her two children, three siblings, three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City.

Diane P. Woods, 78, of Fort Wayne, passed away at 5:29 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8, 2014, at her residence.
She was born April 12, 1936, in Fort Wayne, a daughter of the late Otis and Dorothy Reese.
Surviving are her four children, Rebecca (Mark) Frankart of Columbia City, Jeffrey Woods of Fort Wayne, Candice (Mike) Moster of Gainsville, TX., and Patricia (Russel) Shears of New Haven; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Judy (John) Overholt of Fort Wayne, and Vicki Wilkerson of Fort Wayne.

Wendell Buntain passed away July 23, 2014, after an 18-month battle with cancer at Mesilla Valley Hospice in Las Cruces N.M.
He is survived by his wife Helen, son Greg (Patti and son Christopher), son Nick (Irene and sons Benjamin and Wilton), daughter Julie Pannell (Mike and son Matthew).

Wanda J. Knafel, 89, of Ligonier, passed away Aug. 8, 2014, in Albion. She was born April 17, 1925, to Cecil and Frances (Ozier) Phares. She married Gust D. Knafel, Jr. He preceded her in death in 1995.
She is survived by four sons, Stan (Darlene) Knafel of New Paris, Tim Knafel of Ligonier, Ted (Janet) Knafel of Columbia City and Floyd Knafel of Syracuse; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, a brother, Wilton Phares of Albion and a sister, Dorothy Smith of Salem, Ore.
She was preceded in death by her husband and a brother, Marvin Phares, in 2012.
Ronald E. Neeley, 73, of Warsaw, passed away at 1:35 a.m. Friday, August 8, 2014 at his home with his family by his side. Born Aug. 31, 1940, in Utica, Pa., he was the son of Hiram J. and Cora M. (Deets) Neeley.
He graduated from Meadville High School with the of Class 1958, and attended Erie Commercial College for two years before moving to Marion to attend Indiana Wesleyan for the next three years.
Paul â€śPeteâ€ť Wayne Hile, 45, of Columbia City, passed away at 12:19 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014, in Columbia City.
Born July 2, 1969, in Columbia City, he is the son of Paul H. and Bonnie J. (Murphy) Hile who survive him.
As a youth, Pete enjoyed hanging out with his buddies and playing the new creation of home video games on his Atari and Commodore. With the Commodore, he learned that he could write his own video games which sparked his interest in attending Ivy Tech for computer programming after graduation.

D. Kirk McNagny, 89, of Williamstown, Va., passed away of pneumonia Saturday, July 19, 2014, in Los Angeles, Calif.
Kirk was born in Columbia City Nov. 18, 1924, the last of three children to Vera and Rob Reed McNagny.
Kirk graduated from Columbia City High School and subsequently earned an aeronautical engineering degree from Tri-State University.
In 1952, he married Jaralee â€śJerryâ€ť Johnston of Peru, his partner in life for the next 44 years.
